Dear Author I Friended Because I Love Your WIP,

Apparently, the only other thing you post are rants about the evils of Republicans.  After the first one I read, I admit to skipping them because they are filled with outrage and vitriole.  Plus, back in the day before I became a committed moderate, I was a Republican.  Yes, you read that correctly.  And it gets worse!  My ENTIRE family - discounting some Libertarian leanings - are Republicans.  Your rants about the idiocy of right-wing talk show hosts and elitism and whatnot sound awfully familiar to me.  Why?  Because I hear them from certain uncharitable family members about the left.  You see, both sides try to stir up hatred and outrage and general discontent among the public to further their own agendas.  In fact, many people actually make their living from stirring up such feelings.  On the right these people would be:  Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity.  Michael Moore is a prime example of this type of individual who is on the left.  There are many others.  They are manipulating your emotions to such a degree that I fear for your health and general wellbeing.

Honestly, if you are getting that worked up about stuff, maybe you should consider not listening to/reading/watching the individuals who stir up such unhappiness in you.

Your Friend,

Twasadark, who believes that you should be able to post whatever you want in your journal but please remember that lots of people of differing beliefs read it.

PS - BIG BIG kudos to those of you on my flist who I have respectfully disagreed with who welcome debate without descending into namecalling and hysteria.  THANK YOU.

That right there is why I try to avoid political commentary on my journal. I never expect anyone to agree with my political leanings and I know how inflammatory it can be. I'd much rather read good porn than stir the pot of politics.

♥ you. =)

Ugh, that is very very rude and not nice at all. I mean, that person, not you. I managed to make it through the insane politics of the past year and a half without anything explosive going on regarding my opinions, but then again, my flist is pretty cool about respectful disagreement.

Also, I kind of want to molest your header.

LOL - yeah, I guess it is rude, huh? It assumes that everyone has the same opinion, which of course isn't the case ...

And, yeah, I sorta want to molest my header too. *grins*

Can't wait til Thursday for new SPN!!!

That's what the back button is for.

When it comes to LJ I believe in the beauty of the cut (and warning ppl in the cut text, and in the tags).
Some times I don't use it, if it's something I want people to read (for their own good, not cuz I'm being a bitch lol).
And that way your flist can decide for themselves if they want to be subjected to the text behind the cut.

Amen to that, sistah!

Hey, I watched the first eppy of Being Human. I liked it, although I was a little confused about how the girl came to be solid, lol. I really like her though - very sweet and a sympathetic character. I may have to watch more eppies ... :-)

The whole Annie being solid thing is a little weird. Although a lot of the things the supernatural characters can or can't do are weird. The writers really took the myths and made them their own.

I have little time for the self-serving asshats they call politicians in my own country, so I definitely don't want to read about the American version!!

I generally skip any posts on my flist that are politically based.

I try to do the same thing. This person posts on politics all the time, making that difficult. Sigh.

LOL about asshats. That's a good word for politicians!!

I'm a true blue Democrat, but I agree with you wholeheartedly. Some of these folk would be out of work unless they kept this supposed division in the country alive and well. I often wonder what happen if the extremist on both sides just shut the fuck up for 3 months, and let things play out. Even 1 month. Hell, 24 frickin' hours. God forbid we'd have to use our own brains to make up our minds. What would the world in general be like if we weren't constantly bombarded with vitriol 24-7. *heavy sigh*

I SO know what you mean!! When I teach my history classes I really try to help people look at the information they read and hear and see critically just for this reason.

And don't worry, we can wear the rose colored glasses together! We'll make a style of it. :-)

Agreed. And also, I think I know who you mean, as I considered adding for the same reason but after a quick flip-through went, "nah, we can keep up fine through the comms". I just don't need the drama. LJ is my happy place, you know?

I'm with you, dearest. That is, I'm not absolutely sure who you and twasadark are talking about (though I have a guess), but I've come across absolutely fantastic writers who I considered friending for the fic, but when I saw what they regularly post about I decided not to. Cuz I don't need that drama, thanks.

Oh, I agree, too. People can post what they'd like in their journals, but when it starts crossing over the line to uninformed vitriol that is actually harmful, I steer VERY FAR AWAY.

I generally try to avoid all things political and religious (unless it is Supernatural related) on my lj because I don't want to start another kind of war. Even though I have never met many of you on my f-list...yet...you (and others) have helped me deal with my rl issues & I don't want start losing people over it all.

Everyone has their own opinion, which I fully understand & they are certainly welcome to it, but yeah. I get what you're saying. IMHO that's where lj cuts are gettin' the big money for.

One time a person friended me because of our common interest in Supernatural & I eventually friended her back, but then she started posting a lot more often. All her posts became extremely lengthy & not behind a cut & they partially pretty much said this is what you should be thinking too nature. I ended up having to defriend her. She defriended me back. Ah well.

Yeah, that's a wise policy - to avoid things political and religious. I generally try to do the same. I don't mind if people post on those subjects sometimes, but this person just sort of seems addicted to being outraged.

he defriended me back. Ah well.

Oh, wow - I hate it when people tell me what to think! I'm too old for that! :-)

On occasion, I have agreed with what this person has had to say in their rants - if not for anything else but to say "huh" and get a chuckle at the antics. But, thanks for reminding - there are many people out there with differing opinions, so I shall try to be more mindful in the future.

Also, I have my fingers crossed that the author will begin to focus less on political rants and more on finishing that WIP - which is amazing regardless of your political party affiliation.

I ♥ YOU SO MUCH.

Seriously, ditto on everything, including 'used to be Republican before I became a moderate' and 'my entire family is Republican'. Sometimes I can't win for losing — half the people in my extended family think I'm evil because I'm not right-wing enough, and then I go on my flist and realize I'm clearly evil because I'm not left-wing enough. Reading this made me SO HAPPY OMG.
