Audiofic Recs: Links

Okay, folks.  I must admit to an embarrassingly HUGE addiction to podcasted Supernatural fanfic.  I squee for joy when I find some! Like, full on, squeeeeeeeeeeeing.  I would SO much rather be listening to some of the many awesome fanfics out there than the blathering of stupid radio hosts while I’m in the car, or the same blathering of radio/tv personalities while I’m sweating away on the elliptical machine at the gym.  Now I actually LOOK FORWARD to driving and going to the gym.  On the slim chance that there are other maniacs like me out there, I have compiled a list of links to those blessed souls who have recorded and offered fanfics for the enjoyment of all. 

Fanfic As Read by a Fan – several fics posted, a couple of them quite long

Supernatural Audio Novels – set up to offer the mp3 records of the kick-ass fanfic novel OF BASTARD SAINTS (now complete), this site also has some other audio novels in progress

Electronic Voice Phenomena – this site offers the wonderful EVP gen and slash fic podcasts, now 13 strong.  Most of the pieces recorded here are relatively short – I think 15 minutes is the max.  Lots to choose from in these podcasts, though. 

Supernatural Multimedia – although this site is for all kinds of multimedia – not just audio fic – the wonderful and talented chiak posts ongoing projects for several stories/audio novels here.

iSlash podcasting – most of the stuff posted here is SGA or Due South, but there are a few Supernatural fics here and there

Oh, thanks so much for the links! I know most of these places (LOVE Of Bastard Saints to death!), but definitely have to snoop around a little more to see if there's some fic I missed. It makes work so much more bearable if you're able to listen to some fanfic.

I was wondering, since you seem pretty well informed, did you ever come across some RPS (in the SPN fandom, though it doesn't have to be J2) audiofic? I never was able to find anything and by now I'm desperate enough to organize my own RPS edition of the EVP podcast simply to get some RPS audiofic to listen to. Cause I love Sam and Dean, but every now and then I just need my RPS fill. *g*

Thank you. I've started compiling podfics into audiobook format for several authors and readers, so I made myself a couple of icons to go with.

It's been a lot of fun to do. Podfics seem to be catching on more and more, so I'm hoping to see more become available as audiobooks as well.

As far as I know, I'm the only one audiobooking so far, though I'm sure the trend will take off and fly as people get used to the idea. Audiobooks are just so much nicer than raw MP3s. Even discounting the cover art, they get filed with audiobooks in iTunes, not with music, so they don't show up when you play/shuffle your songs, and they automatically bookmark for you, so if you stop listening, they start up again where you left off. They also tend to be smaller files overall. I tried to zip one once, and it only shaved off 3 MB!

We seem to have animals in common. I have a monster chihuahua and two cats. And two turtles who live in the yard: Ricky and Fred. Unfortunately, we lost Lucy and Ethel over the years.
