twasadark: (John & Ronon)

Okay, so I just watched Stargate Atlantis's 1st eppy of Season 5 and I am TOTALLY in the dark.  Cause I haven't watched all of S4 and because I'm too lazy to search the webz for answers to all these questions ... maybe someone can hep me out?  Questions under the cut since they are spoilers ...

  • Teyla and John are dining together at the beginning, even if only in John's mind.  WTF?  Are they getting together????  Which would actually thrill me. :-)
  • How the hell did Teyla get preggers???  Well, aside from the obvious insert slot a into tab b stuff.  Did she get captured or something?
  • The promo for next eppy showed CARSON.  Uh ... I thought he'd been blown into smithereens???
I totally dug Hurt!John even if his face did look smeared with clown paint there at the end.  And Ronon, yum, big strong Ronon carrying Teyla and the baby and not seeming to mind the ... um ... drippiness of carrying a woman who has just given birth.  LOL.

Yay Atlantis flail! I missed John's pointy ears! And I listen to so much podfic that I forget they all actually sound like men :)

1) There have been some hints of Teyla/John (mostly in Doppelganger, but pretty much all the way back to the pilot). And John sort freaked out about her being pregnant. I'm hoping for no John/Teyla, if only because John, very gay. (the slash goggles, they are permanent)

2). The actress recently had a baby, and they added it into the story line for the last half of season 4. They sort of wimped out on exposition - "oh, that guy from Athos, right? You seemed close" - he was the zombie-ish guy that helped them out of the ship (long story - Michael, some sort of genetic warfare thing, brainwashing).

3). Okay, Carson, even crazier. It's a CLONE. A failing, genetically altered clone - "our" Carson went bang back in Sunday, but Michael cloned him and kept him prisoner, until the team ran across him looking for Teyla. And there's this whole heartbreaking thing where Carson thinks he's been captive for nearly two years (since the whole Wraith-into-human rebellion in "Misbegotten"), just holding on because John and Rodney are going to come save him. IT's just what they do! And Rodney has to tell him that no, Carson's dead, and they never were looking for him at all. (Someone needs to write Carson's story, with all that angst)

But without Michael's drugs, the clone was dying and they stuck him in statis until they could figure out how to fix it. No fix on that as of yet, so next week.

John's pointy ears? LOL - I missed them! I guess I was too busy fixating on his garish makeup. Oh, and also wishing that he and Ronon would pass the time they were trapped with handjobs or something. Hahah

Thanks so much for answering my q's! The season opener makes a LOT more sense now! Carson is a CLONE? Oh, good God!

Well, I must say that S4 so far is my favorite. Although S5 seems to be starting out strong!

Joe Flannigan has absurdly pointy ears, about which I totally have a thing for - I fell for him in the first ep, when he turned his head and smiled out one side of his mouth and looked more elf than human, and my brain said "oh, I could fall in love with this guy." And then he started being dorky and sarcastic and charming...

There's apparently some whole thing about people claiming Joe is actually an elf, and him denying it with "I am not a Kebler Elf!" (enjoys image of tiny John Sheppard baking me cookies).

For 160+pages of discussion on Joe's ears, see also: The Pointy Ears Thread . Because its SGA fandom, and we can obsess about anything (I'm sure there's a "Rodney's needlessly blue eyes" thread somewhere, and a "Ronon, how so hunky?" discussion).

Yep, CLONE Carson! It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. It's all i Kindred, mostly part 2. He honestly thought he was a POW for nearly two years, and that the people he trusted with his life couldn't be bothered to rescue him :(

Season 4 is all about themes of what it means to be human, what it means to be yourself, and it's all really interesting (at least to dorky aca-fans like me). And there's some really dark stuff (have you seen "Miller's Crossing" yet? - WOW! and Doppelganger!)

I was kinda feeling that way, too. It was just getting rather dull for me. But S4 is surprisingly good (I'm on ep 10 now) and the first ep of S5 was really good too ...

Looks like you got all the answers you need above, so I won't bother you with more. lol

Hurt!John \o/ I could say that I didn't enjoy that, but that would, of course, be a lie. XD SGA IS BACK WITH THE SHEP!WHUMP! Yesssssss.

Yeah. Ronon carrying Teyla after birth was pretty awesome, even though it should have been a lot more wet. I just figure maybe Athosians give birth differently. I dunno.

Yay for Shep!Whump! Although I like any whump, I suppose. Rodney!Whump! is definitely amusing! :-)

Yep, you got the answers for sure. Me personally, I don't think the jackass writers can make up their minds on who to "hint-ship" Teyla with. There are a few instances with her and John and then there are instances of her and Ronon; like Michael, Echoes, and this ep. All in all I liked this ep except for the Woolsey thing at the end. Just yuck. I know Amanda only had a year left on her contract but ewww!

Well, I guess that the Woolsey thing will introduce a lot of room for conflict ... lol!

I guess the writers want Teyla to be able to ship with everyone. Including Keller. LOL.

What gets me about the writers/PTB is that there has been so much controversy over the characters they jacked already. Weir and Carson, a little with Heightmeyer. All the chaos that ensued with Sam replacing Weir and Keller replacing Carson and now after a season with Sam, they bring in Woolsey.

The SG fandom is picky enough without this many character replacements in 1.1 seasons. I'm here for Ronon. If he goes, I go. Guess I'm one of those picky rascals but damn, 4 characters in such a short timespan. That is a little much for me.

And then there's the entire Daniel and Jonas thing, back on SG-1. I'm new-ish to the whole SG-verse, so all my knowledge is after the fact, but I know people freaked out endlessly on that one.

But people seemed to like Cam? I adored Cam, but I'm just that sort of girl.

Yeah I had a coronary over Daniel too. He is my favorite character on SG-1. After him was Jack so I wasn't as thrilled with Cam but he grew on me. I loved Browder from Farscape and had this thing where everytime he talked on SG-1, I kept flashing back to his Crichton days. It was hard to shake but I did after a while. It was easier with Vala since her character was so different from Aeryn but Crichton and Cam - too close.

You're new to the SG fandom? I suggest staying away from the Sci-fi Boards. That place is hell and it is amazing how much fighting goes on in between different shows.

For instance, when SG-1 got canceled, there was a huge war between the SG-1 fandom and the BSG fandom. It was the nastiest lowdown dirtiest fighting I've ever seen. It made the wankfests that go on in LJ seem tiny and nothing in comparison. I sat back and watched it explode into crap within hours.

Even knowing what all happens, I cried - I fell hard for the guy (as [personal profile] twasadark knows from my rambling on about him being all broken and smart and just wonderful), and, just, *hugs Daniel*

Farscape is next on my cracky sci-fi watch queue (after BSG, which I like but don't love - too good, maybe?) so I'll likely spend the entire time thinking his character is a lot like Cam (and Cam is a lot like Dean, if Mary had died and they never became hunters - my pet theory of the moment). I loved Cam's fanboy-ness. He loved SG-1 as much as the fans loved SG-1, and it never felt like he was attempting to replace Jack (too me, in my Feb-June burn run through the series).

BSG fandom strikes me as sort off odd - all those pretty boys, and no one can seem to find any good Apollo slash?

I like your pet theory!

I LOVE Daniel. I still cry when I watch Meridian (I think that's how its spelled)

I made a huge mistake of comparing Cam to Crichton on the Scifi Boards and got my head taken off. Weird ass people. I still see a lot of that character in Cam. But no, I don't think he replaced Jack. He is far from Jack. And I agree, he was very fanboyish. "We're getting the band back together".

And hahaha! Too true on the BSG slash. Way too many pretty boys. They must be keeping the slash fic a secret from the rest of the populace.
