I really enjoyed this! It's true that Sam has to find his contentment and happiness in the moment, because he has no idea what's to come. I loved how Dean understood that, and allowed Sam the physical contact that he needed. Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful vignette! I love the visual imagery of the first few paragraphs, the way you use Sam's POV via invisible lens to give us a visceral sense of the place and time. I love, too, the dead-on accuracy of their voices here, the way that they talk to each other, so in-character, in-canon, so right. Bravo!
