First, big hugs and kisses to [livejournal.com profile] wiccaqueen ! I received your lovely Christmas card, hon. Thank you so much! It's so beautiful! I want to go live in Germany now. :-)

A couple of great comms have popped up over the weekend - both of them not for the faint of heart - [livejournal.com profile] club_diogenes , where everything but fandom wank is allowed - nay, encouraged! Even discussions about certain philosopher's bathroom habits. And, for in the noble CAPSLOCKIAN tradition: [livejournal.com profile] mishaland .

Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for ....

See how innocent and cute I begin ...

DOH!!!!

LEADING TO .... THE BEST ONE OF ALL!

Several of you have requested piccies of my flock of cockatiels. I currently have 15 of them. They are none too happy about me taking pics of them, let me tell you. There was much squawking and plastering of themselves to the cage walls, but here they are....

And here's a closeup of one of them. I think it's a female.

This is how my kitty feels about the birds (who, rest assured, are NOT in the house with the cats):

Tomorrow night I go to see Ten Inch Hero with [livejournal.com profile] xzombiexkittenx and [livejournal.com profile] justy213 ! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Cool! Do the birds stay in the aviary full time? What are their names?

Yup, they stay there full time. It's fairly large, so they can fly a little in it. And this is going to sound awful, but I haven't named them. They are breeding birds, so those who don't breed I'll be selling ... plus I have a hard time telling them apart still. I'm sure I'll end up naming the ones I ultimately keep, but they will probably be strange names like "Spazzy" and "Gray head". LOL

LOL @ Spazzy and Gray head!!

OK, I can see now why you have 15. I knew a woman who bred hand fed conures and some larger parrots. It looked like a LOT of work. All the food prep and cleanup etc. Of course when you are getting that much money I guess it's all worth it.

Oh, man, you're going to defriend me, but I dl'ed it and I actually LIKED it. I mean, sure, it was somewhat cheesy and dumb, and I don't really get what the heck was going on with Priestly at the end, but I enjoyed it overall. Although I must admit that the main reasons I'm going are to take a trip into downtown (traffic is so horrendous that I very rarely do that) and see some crazed fangirls in action. :-)

Cries, unfortunately I cannot make it to the movie. Class is BLAH, but we skipped out early last week for... a movie. So I'd feel bad if I ditched again.

YOUR BIRDIES ARE SO CUTE! I love birds. It's one animal I've always wanted and never gotten to have before. N'awwww, and all those KITTIES. And your kitty's face, lmao!

Aww, bummer, dude! Class comes first though ... at least most of the time. :-)

Birds are pretty awesome, I think. Mine aren't even really tamed - they're mainly for breeding purposes. I love how curious they are about everything.

That's really cool, though! I've always wanted to breed animals because it requires the kind of care and dedication of a real animal lover, but I never have the time nor the resources. Do you breed them to sell them, or for fun?

I'm trying to breed them to sell, but right now it's been more for fun since none have bred in the last few months. I've only been doing this since August. I'll be buying some more birds soon, and the ones that don't breed after spring I'll sell to pet shops or through ads. I'm going to a huge bird show this upcoming weekend and plan on getting some canaries to try my hand with those.

My hubby thinks I'm nuts, but at least I enjoy being nuts. LOL.

Wow! You got it already?? That's great! I thought for sure the Australian ones would take forever!

Birds are great but extremely messy, I must say. I have to clean their cages every day. Well, I guess I don't *have* to, but I risk them getting sick if I don't.

Glad you enjoyed the critters!

And WOW! You really like cockatiels! Now, I think your cat like them too. For different reasons, granted, but he likes them ;)

LOLCatz is true genius, I agree!! :-) I'm actually breeding the birds (or attempting to as they haven't gotten with the program quite yet!), but I do really like them as well. LOL about the cat. Yeah, if I let the cats at them there would be mass chaos!!

The last three LOLcats are my faves!! HAHAHA!! I'll have to send you some of the ones I've collected! They're so addictive!

Your cockatiels (why does LJ say that is misspelled?) are ADORABLE! In middle school my friend had one who could whistle the Andy Griffith theme music! I've wanted one ever since. At one point my dad was a bird breeder but I think cockatiels were the only birds he DIDN'T have. I loved his African Grays the best - they could imitate his dogs perfectly. We kept looking to see if they'd somehow gotten in the aviary!

You mentioned how curious they are, heh. My mom, sister & I had this thing where if we were curious about something the other was doing, we'd lay our hand flat on our head & then lift it straight up, kind of like a bird's crest, and say, "What's that?" or "Whatcha doin?" or some such. Dorky, yes, but it was always precious to see my sister bobbing around my mom while she was cooking saying, "What's for supper? Huh? Huh? Curious, curious!" LOL!
