Okay, it could be that I've had too much caffeine today, or it could be that I've been stunned by the utter and complete gorgeousness of Crusoe and his sidekick Friday from the premiere of the new series CRUSOE (NBC, Friday evenings). Witness my reaction to the show, bulleted to draw your attention to the important points. And by the way, these are somewhat spoilery although truth be told you won't be watching for the plot if you're anything like me. I'll put these under a cut:

  • dsfdfesioeuiteu8dfvkjv;kne;ireu8rg;jnnfreuioerfkbnweitjeiotqweorn (and assorted other keyboard smashes of GLEE and LUST)
  • The guy who plays Robinson Crusoe's real name is Philip WINCHESTER. Glory be, but it's a sign from on high that I may like this show 1/10th as much as I love Supernatural. And that means that I may actually sit through the God-awful commercials to watch the show when it airs instead of just DVRing it.
  • The guy who plays Robinson Crusoe is a hottie who looks like Sean Bean (who plays his father in the show!!) and we get to see his NEKKID WELL-MUSCLED chest. Yes, me likes this very very much.
  • The guy who plays Friday is a hottie with an African accent and perfect skin and gorgeous lips. See above sentiment.
  • There is a scene in which: FRIDAY AND CRUSOE ARE IN A POOL OF WATER ALL DRIPPING AND BREATHING HARD AND CLUTCHING AT ONE ANOTHER AND GOD SOMEBODY PLEASE MAKE ME A SCREENCAP OF THIS SO I CAN JUST SIT AT MY COMPUTER AND LOOK AT THAT IMAGE ALL FRICKIN DAY.
  • In search of the above referenced screencap I naturally went to LJ to find the show's comm. Gasp! There wasn't one yet. Well, now there is because I started it:

Please join and pimp it out if you have even the slightest interest in it. Do it for the GORGEOUS MEN, PEOPLE. They clearly need our undying adoration support.

More episode commentary:

Anyhow, it's not what you would call intellectually stimulating TV - it's more like Saturday morning old Tarzan-type adventure movies, but I found it enjoyable and will definitely be watching more. I do, however, have to address one glaring plot problem:

If Crusoe is brilliant enough to construct elevators and Ewok-type tree abodes and circley bicycle bridge thingies then why the hell can't he build a BOAT and sail off the frickin island????

More blathering to come. But I'll probably post that on the comm itself.

The show is on at 9/8 Central on Fridays. And Sean Bean is supposed to be Crusoe's father but they looked like they should be brothers instead!! Sean Bean. YUM. :-)

I've got this sitting on my DVR, but haven't watched it yet. I've seen it pegged for early cancellation so often I'm kind of loath to possibly get attached. But I should probably check it out, eh?

OMG, really? But the damn thing just aired for the first time last night??? Oh, hell.

But I should probably check it out, eh?

It's a fun watch. Not especially clever, but the scenery - both human and natural - is definitely pretty. :-)

Yeah, the Friday night slot they've got it in is the kiss of death, reviews have been tepid at best, and its numbers for the first ep weren't so fantastic. For such an expensive show to produce, that doesn't mean good news.

I thought about watching it, but then I remembered being forced to read the book in college, and thought about to possibility of it failing REALLY badly at race issues and making me a sad slash fangirl.

But then the local newspaper gave it a VERY bad review that specifically referenced that it was annoyingly homoerotic, so I'm slightly interested.

Yeah, it doesn't really adhere closely to the book AT ALL. As in, there are two guys named Crusoe and Friday on an island. And that's about as close as it comes to the book. LOL.

Annoyingly homoerotic???? Good God but that was the best part! Totally scrumdilicious! :-) I can definitely see why it would get a bad review. It's not especially clever, but I liked it's energy, and it does have heart as well. The two leads have chemistry also.

Though I do remember the classroom discussion of the book mainly being a lecture on how Crusoe would have likely ended up screwing either Friday or one of the goats (the prof. voted for the goats). But then, this was the class that could have been titled "Homoerotic Fear in Colonial Literature" - he made everything about being scared that you were going to go somewhere and the hot natives were going to either eat or rape you. (it was an odd class)

Homoerotic =/= annoying. Ever. Crazy people.

LOL! I know, I was out and about most of the day, plus Hastur ripped apart my Trooper including ALL of the wiring to the stereo, so of course I had to spend several hours with the manuals trying to fit it all back together. My CD player still doesn't work, but at least now the driver's side speakers won't go out every time I hit a bump.

I'm not sure what is wrong with my IM. It won't let me log in. I'll keep trying.

The same could be said about the professor on Gilligan's Island. Basically this is one series where you've just got to put all rational thinking aside, and enjoy it for what it is.

Liek teh purdy bois and their slashable slashiness. *_*

And before you ask, no... I haven't smoked anything. This series just gets me this excited for some reason. XD

Before you freak out and think it's going to get cancelled, it had decent numbers, not awesome and not bad, so I'd say it's got about the same shot as everything else on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Philip Winchester could cut glass with his abs. The show also likes to make a point of that. And there's enough hoyay to knock down a moose. I don't think that part was intentional.

LMAO!!! I suck Bobo and his monkey, too, cause I only heard about it through my flist. Haha!! It was quite the pleasant surprise, let me tell you. YUM.

I basically ONLY watch SPN and Sarah Connor on TV and nothing else, ever. Hubby has his paws on the remote the rest of the time.

BTW, I was going to comment on your post about the friends cut and yowl loudly that you MUSTN'T CUT ME, but I decided to have high self-esteem and assume you still want me.

It's mainly for like 5 people that I've noticed I keep scrolling past their posts cuz I just don't care. And they nor I comment on eachother's stuff, so I figure, "Bye bye"

From what I understand, the networks allow hulu to show their episodes as well as some bonus material (depending on the network). It's free advertising for the networks and they do have mini-commercial breaks so the networks get their money. It's not only reliable, but it's network endorsed.

Of course this is the information given to me by my sister, so I can't claim to have looked it up on my own. But hey, she's my sister, I trust her. *g*

Dude, that show is so slashy it's practically canon. Crusoe even tells Friday that there'll never be another woman for him, but FRIDAY saved his life and he's his "brother". If memory serves, there was even the uber-sexy forehead press between "brothers". Yep, they're totally having sex.
