Fic Recs: Hurt/Comfort

A good hurt/comfort fic is one of my many Supernatural addictions.  These are some that I particularly enjoyed.  And , okay, one that I wrote. ;-)  Feel free to comment and let me know about any I may have missed.  I’m a fic-reading fool!! 

When You Put Your Arms Around Me by kroki_refur  Gen. 17,000 words of pure bliss.  Sammy’s taking the hit in this one, which has to be one of my favorite stories EVER. It is funny and sweet and smart and so many types of YUM that I just can't say enough good things about it.  Not Wincest despite the provocative title.  

Cold November Rain by leonidaslion.  Gen. Classic h/c here, with Dean being the unlucky victim this time.  And yes, I apparently have a thing for hypothermia fics.  So much so that I even wrote one (see below) … Anyhow, the summary goes like this: A river, hypothermia, and abuse of Guns N' Roses lyrics ...

MRSA by janissa11. Gen.  Poor whumped-up Dean.  This time the whumping starts with an itty-bitty cut.  But boy does it escalate.  Em is one of my favorite authors.  Everything she does is affecting and well-written, and this piece is especially so, on both counts.  Pre-series, around 15,000 words.

Bullet by A-blackwinged-bird. Gen.  The author calls it mindless, plotless, good old fashioned Sam whumping. I call it kick-ass.  So vividly written, and only 1500 words.

Strength to Endure by A-blackwinged-bird.  Gen.  Oh, this is so gut-wrenchingly heart-warming.  Poor Sam gets whumped yet again.

Underneath My Lucid Skin by poisontaster. This is actually the third in a wonderful series that starts with The Ice is Thin.  I read it first, and was intrigued enough to read the others.  It has some pretty tame wincest references, but the other stories in this series are more explicit.  Anyhow, in this one poor Sammy is hurting, and Dean is helping.  The whole thing is so sweet and loving.

We Walk the Same Line by poisontaster. Gen. Dean and Sam spend 90% of this story wounded and stuck in a cave with a horrid monster ready to rip them to shreds.  How awesome is that??  This story has Dean’s voice down so well that I was in utter awe of it.  A really well-written piece. 8,500 words.

Refuge by twasadark.  Gen.  Can I pimp my own fic here?  I sure hope so, ‘cause I’m going to do it anyhow! ;-)  This fic just holds a special place in my heart.  I’ve been writing for a long time, but this the first time I’ve tried fanfic.  Summary: Dean’s fighting off hypothermia, his worried brother, and chick-flick moments in the cold Wisconsin woods. 5,000 words.
