Good God this took me FOREVER!!!!  It was a joy to read, though. [personal profile] tabaqui writes such descriptive, beautiful prose.  And the sex???  DAMN!  Where can I get some of that?  Oh, yeah ... my mind?  (Don't tell my hubby I said that)  I love the world [personal profile] tabaqui creates in this story - it's not-quite post apocalyptic in that it's not unrelentingly bleak.  [personal profile] tabaqui's world works, even if it's a harsh place.  Anyhow, I could go on and on ... just listen.  If you can stand my voice for 5+ hours.  :-)

Wow, when you said EPIC you meant EPIC!!!! *sends virtual cough drops*

I'm clearing out Monday's "to listen" list, and sticking this right at the top. I need some good porn after listening to the new Meyer's novel last week

Haha! Yup, pretty epic. It's a good thing I got used to talking and talking while teaching 4 hour long classes, lol!

Yeah, I'll bet you need porn after Meyers new book! I tried to read Twilight but just couldn't get into it. Judging from every other females reaction to that book, I'm a bit of a freak for not finishing it. :-)

My voice gives out over especially long phone calls (um, 15 minutes or so) since I lost if for over a month with severe laryngitis - my Dr. gave me iffy odds on it coming back normal at all, so I'm pretty lucky. So I just get to fangirl people who can read to me for hours.

I sort of enjoyed the first three Twilight books - sparkly vampire crack, sort of interesting, and while the three main characters annoyed the hell out of me, there was at least a bit of a plot, and I liked the secondary characters a lot.

But Breaking Dawn had me beating my head against the desk a number of times. I'm increasingly convinced that the entire series is one great big metaphor for the triumph of traditional morals and values over modern feminism. And the last half of BD is totally, illogically, metaphorically about the Spanish Inquisition. (And no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!)

(Also, the porn was AWFUL! *g* I understand her decision to not write the sex, but I'd much rather it not be there at all that the awkward, uncomfortable, nebulous stuff that did make it into the book. PG fadeouts can be hot - if yo ever get into Due South, there's a scene in "Victoria's Secret pt 1" where it's het, and fades out while they are still fully dressed, and is somehow the hottest thing I've ever seen on TV, because it's all about their deep understanding of the character and what this means to him)
