OMG - I just listened to three totally cracktastic audiofics created by
apey1013 and
kroki_refur!! They are radio plays based on Charles Dickens' work. And they totally include accents and sound effects and a squeaky little Sammy voice that is PRICELESS. Go, listen now and laugh like a hyena! Tattered Wastrel Theatre
Also, I just committed to podfic all 17 parts of
tabaqui's fantastic wincest the Song of the Treadmill. Wow! I've never attempted anything quite so epic ... I'll probably end up posting it in batches. And last, but not least, here's another gen podfic I finished today ...

Date: 2008-08-03 06:28 pm (UTC)It's a fic pairing to rival John/Rodney in sheer amount of wonderful fic out there. (Which is a bit odd, considering the lack of canon basis for it, but about two minutes in, the lack of canon basis becomes part of what works in the pairing. Angst and UST galore)
A lot of the best BtVS writers moved to SPN together, which is the primary reason I picked up the show.
Quick "must read" recs:
Post Grad , by Te. Which is "THE" fic in the fandom, the one written early that rocket launched the pairing, and even if the canon's not perfect, the characterizations are.
Long Time Gone by Yin (you have to scroll a little). Great Post-series. Sweet and angsty and really, really hot. Come for Karate instructor Xander and Spike as "Uncle Will", stay for "Dawn's Awful Music in the Car Game" and dance clubs.
Also notable for the total lack of character hate - there was a lot of "I hate Buffy" or "I hate Willow" that went around, but this fic loves everyone as much as I do. Yin's SGA fic (and podfics) are wonderful, too.
Sweet Revenge by Jackson. There's angst, and then there's THIS FIC. Made me weep. Multiple times. (also, needy, angsty "so much I can't say" sex outside in the rain). Rewrote season 5 in my head, and this is how it would actually happen, with what we know of Spike and Xander, and all the years of hate and repression that build up between them.
One more, and I don't actually expect you to read this monster (well over 1,000 pages, probably closer to 2,000) but I can't link my favorites in the fandom without it:
Repossession , by Lazuli. Just WOW. It's a love it or hate it fic - seems endless, is OTT soap opera-y, and most of what bothers people about it doesn't get resolved until the last few chapters, by which time most people give up. H/C like no other. Her Manifestation is amazing as well (a little shorter, but the premise is a bit offputting - Xander talks ghosts).
Okay, now I miss my Buffyverse (and Spike - as much as I'm a Dean Girl (and A John Sheppard girl), Spike will always be the hottest guy ever on TV)
