Bites fingernails ...

I'm somewhat nervous posting this because I usually post about Supernatural or podfic or bizarre cats or elephants doing rather grody things to other elephants, and not about writing. Deep breath. Here goes ...
*wipes sweat from brow and gets back to being just regularly insane*
Before we became crazed fangirls,
dysonrules and I were fantasy writers who also owned a small electronic publishing company. We ended up publishing eight original novels as ebooks. It was a lot of fun (and a lot of work!) and we learned loads about genre publishing. Well, we’ve decided to resurrect XC Publishing, but with a twist.
Basically, we’re trying an experiment. Beginning July 1, we will offer one of our novels in serialized fashion – FREE. We’ll publish one chapter per week until the novel is finished – and then, depending on the response, we may offer it in paperback (for purchase) as well. We are currently building a free online newsletter to publish the chapters in. Our goal is to have 500 subscribers by July 1st. Since we have around 50 subscribers right now, we are doing some promotion to try to reach our goal.
If the below description sounds at all interested to you, I hope you'll consider join our free online newsletter – or friending our XC Publishing LJ comm by clicking here. And if you want to forward this info on to others who might be interested I certainly won't mind - lol!
Here’s the scoop on the novel:
Brydon's quest was simple. Borrow the fabled Gauntlet of Ven-Kerrick, bring it home to prove his worth, marry the princess, and ascend the throne.
He had planned for the dangerous terrain and Redolian assassins, but he did not count on slavers and werewolves. He did not expect the Gauntlet to be missing, nor to find the Kerrick royal family murdered, and he definitely did not anticipate the distractions of a sultry thief and a rescued slave girl.
Luckily, his worst enemy was there to help him out.
Thank you in advance!!!!
PS – if you are curious about why we’re doing this and what we hope to get out of it, leave me a comment and I’ll tell you.

And yes, you're right about why we're doing this. The book we're publishing is rather massive (600 pages, although we are editing it down now some) and has several sequels. We are possibly thinking about print publishing the sequels, but we're going to see how this goes first ...
Thanks for being in, hon!!! to borrow a phrase from you: squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

I want to be Kripke when a grow up... hehe doesn't matter that i'm older then Jensen shhhh hehe.
I love that you write big stories.. there is nothing like creating your own universe... i got one huge story that i would love to go hog wild with.
I just finished a story called 'in the machine' it needs some polish but i was thinking of two things.. maybe turning it in to a script or trying to send it to a few sci fi mags.
anyways sorry i shouldn't be babbling!
what is the Scriptwriter's Network? Is that an American thing? I'm in Canada..not sure that makes a difference... maybe i am just out of the loop lol

Date: 2008-06-17 04:52 am (UTC)Ooh - being Kripke would be fun. Except I wouldn't want the whole baldness thing. I'm older than Jensen, too! Not QUITE old enough to be his mother, though.
And please, I love babbling!! I tend to do it quite frequently myself ... which of course you know well since you listen to the podfics. Bwa ha ha I slay myself.
Yes, the Scriptwriter's Network is local - a Hollywood thing. Here's the link if you're interested: http://www.scriptwritersnetwork.org/swn/index.php?page=Home

Date: 2008-06-18 04:19 am (UTC)LOL about the "older than Jensen" fangirl crowd! Hey, since you'll be here in L.A. soon, you may want to consider joining the Scriptwriter's Network - http://www.scriptwritersnetwork.org/swn/ It's supposed to be the best group for screenwriters - or so I've heard from my screenwriting group. Let me know if you join - I know they host lots of events. Maybe I'll see you at one!
