Hey - my writing partner and best friend and writing partner [personal profile] dysonrules have a website!  Woooooo hoooo!  It's here.  Basically, we have all our fanfic (Supernatural for me and Harry Potter for her) and some info about our original fiction and screenwriting efforts.  I have links to all my audiofics there as well.  Please check it out and let me know what you think.  It was actually really easy to build - and free!  I love google!!  And by the way, if you are at all into Harry Potter, you MUST read [personal profile] dysonrules' work.  ESPECIALLY if you are into Harry/Draco slash ... although she has some great gen as well.

Also, I just posted a new podfic ... I'm getting better at these, I think (hope!).  Now that I have my handy dandy little iMic cord they are louder and clearer.  As always, I am open to fawning adulation comments of any sort.

*grabby hands*

I shall likely be back to avidly fangirl comment tomorrow. I somehow became absurdly dedicated to listening to the entire Twilight series at a book a week (50 hours of book on Ipod over 3 weeks), and, now that I'm finished, am looking forward to slash again :D

I fully support grabby handiness. Also, I'm a stickler for correct English. Can't you tell? LOL!

Hey, I recently got the whole Twilight series on mp3 as well! My daughter is so addicted to them that we actually visited Forks, Washington a couple of years ago. And every female in my office is ga-ga for them as well. So I feel that it is my duty as a woman to listen ... :-)

Alas, this podfic is not slash. It is good, tho. I want to record another wincest soon, but have a few other things to record first. But I do have some wincest and Harry Potter slash up at my website, if you're interested.

Actually, this has been the first fannish thing that I've ever objected to "as a woman", and I'm usually rather "eh" on feminist issues (it very rarely bothers me in SPN) - but all of the "Bela is so weak/fragile and has to be very careful to keep her desire in check so her boyfriend won't kill her" bothered me a bit. YMMV, of course. I also surprised myself for being totally apathetic towards Edward but liking Jacob. And going right for the femslash (Bela/Alice), instead of the big, popular slash parings. It's been a strange three weeks :)

Other than that, they were quite entertaining (and got better as the series went on). And I'm sure they are saying things about sex and love that are good for teen-aged girls to hear? Plus, I grew up in Phoenix (like Bela) and now live in NW Oregon, so the setting hits close to home.

I've grabbed the Wincest fics, just haven't gotten around to listening yet, between Twilight and SGA fics. And HP seems to be the one big slash fandom I just can't care about. I haven't even read the last two books.

Sounds like an intriguing read. I've heard a bit about SPN being misogynstic (sp??), which floored me. I guess I'm clueless because I've never noticed that the show is anti-female.

Hey, I'm from Phoenix as well! I lived there until I was 13, and then again after high school. I SO miss the excellent Mexican food. And the monsoons. Can't say as though I've missed the oppressive heat, though.

I'm actually not into Harry Potter either. I've never read the books and I've only seen a couple of the movies. But my best friend is completely obsessed with that fandom, so I've recorded a couple of her stories as podfics.

Okay, listened:) You're reader's note cracked me up almost as much as the scene to which it refered. Everything sounds quite good. And I truely believe there is no such thing as SPN gen fic - there's slash, pre-slash, and pre-pre-slash that thinks it's gen, or something like that. Or some other "absurdly intense connection that is not quite sexual but certainly isn't fraternal" catergory.

I've got a few people on my f-list how are quite aware of the percieved anti-woman-ness of SPN. I do notice that females on the show tend to be pretty then hurt then dead, but I figure confines of the genre and all. But they do have a point - as this vid illustrates : Woman's Work by Luminosity ([profile] sockkpuppett) and [personal profile] sisabet. Awesome vid, but tends to harsh the squee.

Hey, I'm from Phoenix as well!

Hee! I grew up FAR east valley (Apache Junction - I know...), and went to college in Tucson. On days like today (45 and raining, again) I even miss the heat - it's the middle of March, I should have broken out the flip-flops WEEKS ago. I miss good margaritas!

Randomly, your daughter may enjoy L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries series - I rec'd them to someone on my F-list a while ago. I'm sure they are painfully out of date and cheesy now, but they were my intro the the teen-aged vampire romance when I was 12 or so, and I still have fond memories. They've been reissued in the post-Twilight craze.

Thanks for the link to the video - I've put it on my Zune to watch when I'm on the road this weekend ... we're going home. I'm quite familiar with Apache Junction. We're from Globe. It's a small world, huh?

Thanks for the book recs, too. I'll tell my daughter about them ...

Interesting thoughts on the slashiness of gen fic. I think most of it - if not all of it - can probably be viewed as slash, pre-slash, or pre-pre-slash, like you've said!

Okay, dear. I never listened to a podfic story because it's too time consumming for me. I have to read the text while listening. But this time I decided to give it a try, and man! I'm glad I did.

First, you have a wonderful voice, very clear. Your enunciation is so good I didn't have any problem following your words. So, thank you, big time. The experiecen was new for me and a worh one. I fear I'm going to be addicted now..

Thanks for giving podfics a chance! Thanks also for your kind words about my voice. And yay for addiction! I'm so addicted to podfics myself that I do my best to spread the addiction far and wide ... lol.
