Vampire Diaries
Oct. 13th, 2010 07:29 pmOkay,
kimmer1227 has something to answer for. Because of her I'm not only watching Glee, but now I've become hooked on The Vampire Diaries!! I sort of wanted to be immune to cheesy teenage romance/mystery/action stuff at my - ahem - age. But it could be worse. A straight male guy on my twitter list is also hooked. So I feel better about myself. Anyhow, here's a little rundown on the characters for the heck of it:
Elena - I actually like her. She's brave and open-hearted and Nina Dobrev is a half-decent actress. It's a little too convenient that both brothers are in love with her but I can overlook that, I suppose.
Stefan - At first he made me yawn incessantly. All that brooding and the 50's gelled hair and dear God that boy is so skinny! For that matter so is Nina Dobrev. Maybe I'm just jealous. But whatev. Ever since that episode where Stefan was captured and tortured I like him a bit. Or maybe I just like to see him tortured. Hmmm .... *ponders this possibility* I still think his name sounds pretentious, though.
Damon - By far the most interesting character on the show. It also helps that he's gorgeous and snarky and morally ambiguous. I loved the slow evolution of his character over Season 1, the way he sorta has a conscience now. He really won my heart in the "Stefan gets tortured" episode because until then I wasn't sure he actually cared about his brother. I don't really get the whole Jeremy connection though. I would think he would find Jeremy annoying. Anyhow, I can't quite figure out Damon's character and I like that about him.
Bonnie - Ooooh! I like her. She's tough and smart and she does what she thinks is right regardless of the consequences. She's a great friend and I love that she doesn't like or trust Damon. The actress is gorgeous, too.
Caroline - Shallow and annoying. She could die and I wouldn't care too much. Although the actress does win points due to the fact that she was on an episode of Supernatural.
Jeremy - He's sort of an emo whiny punk but he's cute enough to pull it off. I would like him to get over himself but then again maybe he redeems himself shortly. I still haven't watched the latest 2 episodes.
Alaric - He's okay altough I think he would have been a helluva lot more angry with Damon when he suspected him of killing his wife. I mean, come on! I can suspend disbelief but that part was just ridiculous. Anyhow, I find the pronunciation of his name pretentious (I have a thing against pretentiousness, okay?) but I like his uneasy alliance with Damon.
Matt - Booooooooring. Cute and sweet but, again, boooooooring. He could die, too, without me caring too much.
Jenna - She's supposed to be in her late 20's or early 30's, I'm supposing. NO WAY. I looked the actress up on IMDB and she's 23. *rolls eyes* Anyhow, I'm sure she'll be in danger and find out the vampire secret next since everyone else in the world knows now.
Have I missed anyone of consequence? There's the werewolf guy but I don't find him all that interesting, although his hunky uncle is pretty nice to look at. Rawr.
Elena - I actually like her. She's brave and open-hearted and Nina Dobrev is a half-decent actress. It's a little too convenient that both brothers are in love with her but I can overlook that, I suppose.

I agree about the borings. Jeremy is still annoying, even though he's a little more interesting. He's boringly interesting. Matt holds the Most Boring Eva trophy.
Glee is my guilty pleasure. I mostly ignore the story and enjoy the music, although I thought this weeks was stellar.
Now watch Terriers!!! And Mad Men!! And I'm just getting into Rubicon.
*twirls evol mustache some more*

Date: 2010-10-14 02:55 am (UTC)I watched the first two episodes of Terriers, but I don't really think it's for me. But who knows? You may convert me to that one, too. lol
I've heard good things about Mad Men but haven't gotten around to watching that one yet. Maybe soon.

Date: 2010-10-14 03:01 am (UTC)I love Damon, but I really want him to be EVOL. I don't want him to turn into Spike. Did you watch Buffy? Spike was an awesome baddie, then they had to ruin him and give him a sooooooul. Yes. I'm still bitter.
Terriers didn't kick it in the ass until ep 3, but I loved the pilot. Didn't care much for ep 2. I just love the chemistry of the two guys. They remind me of the J's.
Give tonight's episode a try. It's fairly standalonish, and has good character stuff.

Date: 2010-10-14 03:12 am (UTC)I SIMPLY LOVE DAMON!! (ok that´s no big surprise, right?) ;)
He´s sooo gorgeous and funny and (a tiny bit) evil..LOVE HIM!
For me and Manu every single scene without Damon, Stefan or Elena is wasted quality time LOL
*hugs you*
