Life ... again

Well, we're back from Florida and ready to resume regular life ... oh, yay. Can you sense my enthusiasm? I just want to be on vacation FOREVER!!!! Is that so much to ask? Apparently so. For those who are interested I'll post about my vacation soon. :-)
But now ... TV shows!
Loved the House finale. Although they didn't mention it in the show Dave thinks that House kept leaving the woman buried beneath the rubble (forgot her name) because he's claustrophobic. I loved the whole storyline with him helping the woman and then tragically losing her. And then getting rescued from Vicodin abuse again by Cuddy. Awwwwww! I never thought of myself as a House/Cuddy shipper - mainly because I think the two of them don't have much chemistry - but if anyone can put up with House's considerable amount of shit it's Cuddy, I suppose. Anyhow, I loved the last scene, where Cuddy said she loved House and they kissed. The hubster was less enthused with this turn of events. He doesn't go much for romance, lol.
I watched the last two epis of Fringe yesterday too while I was laying about suffering from jet lag and trying to extend the vacation a few more hours. I thought they were pretty good. I like Olivia with red hair and a more confident personality. And seeing Charlie again was rather freaky. Also, the guy who got burned to a crisp seemed pretty cool but I guess we're not going to be seeing much more of him since, you know, he did get burned up. I loved the two different Walters, and of course seeing Belly as played by the recently retired Leonard Nimoy is always great. I love just listening to his voice. *happy sigh* Anyhow, I'm glad that Peter is back and I loved the kiss between him and Olivia although I guess that's not real since it was Alternate Olivia but I'm a sucker for romance, what can I say?
I'm also a sucker for good characterization which means that Walter has been my favorite character even though I really want it to be Peter since Peter is, you know, not OLD and wrinkled up. My favorite episode this season was The White Tulip. It was just perfect - touching and smart and profound. My main complaint with the show is that it just hasn't really defined Peter as a character yet. He seems to react to things that happen to him and to other people, but he doesn't really seem to have a strong personality otherwise. He just stands about making snarky one liners when the team discovers some strange happening. I want to get to know him better!!! And Astrid ... what was the deal with Alternate Astrid? I didn't get that whole thing. It was like she was a robot or something. Maybe I'm just dense. Anyhow, I'm happy that the show is coming back for a 3rd season and I'll definitely be watching it. I'm just hoping that we'll see much more of Peter. And I hope that he'll forgive Walter.

Date: 2010-05-23 05:49 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed the House finale too. For me, the jury's still out on the last scene, because I agree, they don't have a whole lot of chemistry--but I'm willing to see where things go with it--
And I just adored House's interactions with the patient. I love it when he does actual doctor stuff with his hands--so House taking off the leg himself made me all kinds of happy (I know, I'm sick, and it was kind of ridiculous that everyone was watching him, rather than helping with the blood and stuff, but still). Plus, HL has this whole set of "I'm looking death in the face" expressions that just slay me...
I liked it so much that I went back and watched the S1 episode about his leg (which is even better), and that gave me a better sense of the character arc they were trying to get across for him and Cuddy--why she might think it might be worth taking a chance on a relationship with him now...
Fringe is on my list of things to catch up on this summer!

Date: 2010-05-23 08:37 pm (UTC)I cringed when House had to chop the leg off and couldn't watch. Just seeing the bone saw freaked me out! But yeah, Hugh Laurie is an amazing actor - I do so love it when House leaves the obnoxious rejoinders behind and just reacts emotionally. I'm looking forward to next season, definitely! But the summer is going to be soooooo long!!

Date: 2010-05-23 05:54 pm (UTC)Now, Fringe! Walter is my favorite character, too. He's so complex, so broken and yet so willing to keep going. He's, at least for me, the most layered of all of them. And I'm with you about the White Tulip.
I was happy seeing Charly again, I really miss him :(
And I don't know what's about alt!Astrid, either, so maybe we can be dense together *laughs*
I believe Peter is always trying to keep away of people. He was betrayed for all the ones he cared about: his mom, who wasn't strong enough and took her own life; his dad, who went insane, and now, it's not even his dad. But his real dad is not any better... At least our Universe Walter cares about him.
But he just doesn't want to take the risk anymore. Olivia is the only one who made a crack in his armor... and he'll be betrayed again. And the fact is Alt!Olive will not make the hurt any better *sigh*
Wow, I got a little ranty! Sorry! But yes, what I was trying to say is: I love Fringe, and I'll be there next season, asking for more *laughs*

Date: 2010-05-23 09:43 pm (UTC)Interesting insights into Peter's character! I hadn't thought of it like that, but you are 100% right. He has been betrayed by everyone in his life - both past and present. *hugs Peter*
And feel free to go ranty anytime! I love it! :-)

Date: 2010-05-23 07:22 pm (UTC)I thought that the kiss was between our Olivia and Peter? Did I miss something? The episode was awesome though and I can't wait to see more of Walter and Peter because they are my two favorite characters. I don't think they are done with the other side though. I still can't wait to see Walternate and Walter meet.

I love that name "Walternate" LOLOL!

Although they didn't mention it in the show Dave thinks that House kept leaving the woman buried beneath the rubble (forgot her name) because he's claustrophobic.
I have to disagree. If claustrophobia had been a factor, depending on the degree thereof, he may not have even gone in there. I've only been stricken with claustrophobia once in my life--during a 5 hour plane trip on a return trip from Hawaii to San Francisco--and even I would have had to climb back out from that spot, only because of a fear of collapse and being trapped like her. IMHO it was more about the leg. Once he admitted that he would have to amputate, and telling her (and Cuddy) about the effects on his own personality, he kind of freed himself, at least temporarily. His leaving his cane behind was, I think, a bit symbolic. Until she ended up dying anyway.
Fringe: Ugh. I saw that cliff hanger when the episode began. The main plot of season 3 (if there is one): "Our" Liv trying to get back. But, possibly, not before AU!Liv destroys any chance of a Liv/Peter relationship however that ends up being done. Because I believe the kiss between them was "our" Liv & Peter, and that during the ruckus outside moments before everyone got into the theater and went back to the other side, "our" Liv was knocked unconscious and AU!Liv ran in in her place.

That makes sense...I hope that's how it turns out although I'm afraid that Bad!Olivia - who already suspected that Good!Olivia has the hots for Peter - was exploiting that relationship for her own ends. I'm totally curious now and should rewatch the episode except that I deleted it from my DVR already. Wah!!! Well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see next season .... or maybe there will be some info that comes out at this year's Comic Con.
