In the midst of the hysteria following ep 5.3 of Supernatural, I thought I would mention this while I'm thinking about it.  If you happen to have a used cell phone laying around and are wondering what to do with it, I'd like to suggest you donate it to a worthy charity in my neck of the woods called Concerned People for Animals.  They work tirelessly to fix and foster many animals, especially cats, and it's where we got two of our cats from.  The efforts of this organization and others like it have reduced the kill rate at our local animal shelters by something like 80% over the last 10 years.  That makes me feel good. :-)

Anyhow, if you're interested, here's the address for sending your used cellphone to:

CPA
PO Box 632
Somis, CA  93066

ETA: No, the animals don't USE the cell phones themselves, people.  At least, I don't THINK they do. HAHAHAHA!! Anyhow, I think the charity sells them to an organization that uses parts from them.

That explains the weird call I got the other night.

"Meow, meown mewoooow, meow meow, etc."
"Sorry, I don't speak Siamese," I said. Now I feel bad. :D

...so the cats can make long distance calls with the adopted cats?

No, I kid :P
But I do have an old mobile lying around. Only problem is: everything about it works, except that the part where you connect the plug of the energy thingy (yes my technical lingo is excellent) is completely busted, so it's not actually chargeable.
Do they just need it for old parts, because if so I won't mind sending it in, or do they actually need working cells?

HAHAHA! I suppose I should have made that more clear, huh? I'm not really sure what they do with the phones - they probably sell them to an organization that uses parts from them - I don't think it's necessary that they are in working order.

Thanks for thinking of the critters. &hearts

Nooo it was just my brain being weird and supplying me with images of cats sneaking away from their owners to smoke a ciggie and catch up over the phone.
"So, how is it at home?"
"'s all right. You settling in over there?"
"Yeah." *inhales* "They've got lots of tuna. 's good."
"Niiice. And how're the ladies there?"
"Pretty damn... oh shit. Owner's coming. Gotta go. MROWWWWWWW!"

There was hysteria over 5.03? What'd I miss?

That charity sounds great. I know how important spaying and neutering cats is. I'm trying to get a couple of our cats spayed, and I've been having one heck of a hard time getting a vet to answer my calls! IDK what's going on.

OMG - you haven't seen the Sam girls hating on Dean and the Dean girls telling the Sam girls to shut up and the epic squee posts??? I thought the eppy was okay, but not THAT exciting. LOL

You might try calling your local animal shelter which is probably run by either your city or county and asking them about spaying and neutering. It would probably be cheaper for you.

Don't tell me someone seriously asked you that cuz OMG LOL if they did.

Anyhoo, do they accept all kinds of phones, from anywhere in the world? Or just certain makes? Because I have a crappy Canadian Solo cell (can't recall the type of phone it is, other than 'piece of shit', right now) I have no use for anymore.
