I was listening to the rock and alternative rock tabs on last.fm today and after about 2 hours I realized that I had not heard even one female artist yet. What the HELL?? Surely there are SOME women rockers, right????? It kinda pisses me off in general how few women make it in the arts anyhow. Writers, musicians, actors - one day we'll have some sort of equality with men, right? I mean, I like me my mens but women have so much to offer.  Are we damned to obscurity in this male-dominated world?  *shakes fist*  

Who's your favorite female musician? I'm curious. This is kinda a crappy vid and the song isn't rock nor alternative rock, but this is my favorite song by a female artist lately. I found it off of someone's fanmix. I wish I could remember whose ...

*flails around like a maniac* Thank you SO much! I'm listening to all your links and I'm totally digging them! I think I like Prescilla best so far, but I'm not really sure. I usually have to listen to a song at least a few times before I can decide whether I really like it or not.

Women have yet to be welcomed properly into the world of rock, they're all supposed to be crooners and balladiers and such.

AMEN! This is so so true. Few of the women who have been accepted are really feminine, too. Heart and Stevie Nicks are feminine, but women like Joan Jett are pretty in your face bad asses. Not that I mind that, but I'd like to see women appreciated for being women not guys with breasts. Plus, Heart and Stevie Nicks are from years ago. I want more female choices now! *stamps foot* LOL

No problem! Looks like a lot of other commenters have hit on some of the more mainstream stuff that I skipped over -- I love getting people into some of the indier stuff I've discovered through eMusic.
