Elizabeth and the Atlantis expedition are shocked when, after they decide to send John back to Earth for care and treatment (and to die), Rodney resigns and goes with him. However, the first obstacle to that is of course John, who half kills himself angrily rejecting Rodney and telling him he doesn't want him to come. The story is about the struggle they both face with John so frail, scared and ashamed, and Rodney, trying to cope while grieving and exhausted - and not too physically well himself. SG1 rally around to help, as do Teyla and Ronon back in Pegasus, and, well, this is the angst with a happy ending tag, after all. An at-times gruelling, but sometimes funny and overall heartwarming read, with great characterisation.

Writer's Meme for 3 Weeks for Dreamwidth
May. 13th, 2025 09:39 pmimpala_chickI just started using the writing website/google docs replacement Ellipsus after argentum_ls' recommendation and I really like it. It's very aesthetically pleasing to me, plus it has the word count right at the top. I like the way the outline part works too where I can jump to different parts of the fic with headers. However, it's going to take time to completely transition out of Google docs because I have so many fics saved in various docs and I'm nervous about deleting everything. Maybe I'll just keep a couple back-ups, since I won't be deleting my Google account anyway. I do want to find an alternate email service though.
I'm still taking numbers for the ultimate music meme.

Crosie Fan Edits
May. 11th, 2025 07:24 pmimpala_chickI meant to make way more posts for 3weeks4dreamwidth but I suppose today is as good a day as any to start.
It is so hard to find fanvids these days! And they are my number one source of fic inspiration! The Youtube search function is literally useless, and Vimeo never really took off? Or if it did, I don't know how to search the tags. It seems like a lot of fan edits/fanvids are posted on TikTok. I don't have tiktok but I can still watch vids on desktop (mobile doesn't seem to work). I can't search tags either way but at least people seem to be reposting their edits/links to their edits on Tumblr? If you know of any tips for searching for fanvids/fan edits, I'd love to hear them.
I did send out a request for Harry Crosby/Rosie Rosenthal (Masters of the Air) vid recs on Tumblr, and someone responded! They have some really fun fan edits on Tik Tok and these two are my favorites:
Still - I love the way this builds. The ending packs a punch! The longing on Harry's face!
Close to You - I love when a vid has opening dialogue to set the tone. They're fun! They're flirty! They both like music! It might be a little fast for my usual taste but it's still a delight.

May. 11th, 2025 06:06 pmmusesfoolI did not end up baking anything this weekend but last night I made this angel hair pasta with grape tomatoes (NYT gift link) scaled down for one, and it was delicious. The hardest, most time-consuming part was slicing the tomatoes, but I did it while the water was boiling, so you know 2 birds, 1 stone (I also made it all in the same pot - boiled the pasta and left it in the strainer while I cooked the tomatoes).
Then today I made another of my favorite chicken dishes: Rustic Garlic Chicken with Gravy - the chicken is good but the gravy is FANTASTIC. I made 2 boneless, skinless thighs (and ate them), but the full amount of gravy, since I also made a pot of mashed potatoes in the slow cooker and stirred the extra gravy into it so that'll be lunch or dinner for a few days as well.
There was an unfortunate amount of washing up afterwards, but I guess it was worth it.
Earlier, I watched this week's episode of Leverage: Redemption and ( spoilers )
I also learned, via tumblr, that season 1 of the original Leverage was aired out of order and is still out of order on Prime. So I will definitely have to do a rewatch with the correct viewing order at some point!
I still have not watched any of season 2 of Andor - 3 episodes a night is too many and I just keep putting it off now until I have the bandwidth for it - but I might watch the new eps of Poker Face tonight, or maybe I'll finish off this season of Elsbeth. I guess we'll see!
