Date: 2008-09-04 01:33 am (UTC)OMG, FLAIL! YOU RULE!
(I'm sure you did just fine on the pronuciations - yes, Teal'c is sort of "teal -ack". And the show itself is never consistent on anything like that - you'd think they'd have a general meeting about the pronunciation of "Goa'uld ", but I think every character says it differently)
Once again, FLAIL!!!!

Date: 2008-09-04 02:36 am (UTC)I made the mistake of using the SPN hiatus time to watch DVDs of Lost instead of Due South. YAWN. I made it through all of S1 and most of S2 before I got too bored with it. Jack annoys me, and I totally don't find him hot. Sawyer has greasy hair, which bugs me, too. The old guy is interesting, but that's about it ...

Date: 2008-09-04 02:50 am (UTC)I watch Lost faithfully without really liking it post-Boone (is shallow, surprise). And am so bored with the Jack/ Kate, Sawyer/Kate thing, though Sawyer has his moments. And I like Charlie, if only for the accent, and there's some fun slashy subtext with a guy named Desmond that you haven't met yet, but again with the greasy hair thing. And Juliet is pretty cool. But for the most part - I sort of want to know how it all turns out, but I care the way I care about Stephen King novels, where I do want to finish them, but once it's over, I'm not likely to think about any of these people again. Whereas there are shows like SPN where I deeply care about the characters and therefor would watch Sam and Dean do anything at all.
I think Due South is one of those shows - yeah, the plots are impossible and cracky and stupid, and they know it, but Fraser and Kowalski are deeply, amazingly interesting and complex. Fraser's the most textured "good guy" I've ever seen - yes, he's faultlessly good, but it's damaging and pathological, and he has to do the right thing, even when he knows how much its going to hurt him and everyone he cares about. Also, Paul Gross is really nice to look at, in a way that the still pictures can't seem to convey, and Ray is 14 different sorts of hilarious - SECRET NERD GLASSES = love! He and Dean would have wacky adventures together in their awesome cars. /ramble
