Dumpy surroundings are part of the charm - the whole place was wallpapered in albums older than I am, and there was a PacMan arcade game that was only a quarter.
Roger Clyne was the lead singer for the Refreshments for a long time (Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big and Buzzy was the first CD I owned when I was 14 or so), and a "Dean" band for me as well. My sister is a huge Roger Clyne fan - has a tattoo of the band's logo.
Am snagging the Pistaleros album - see if it jogs anymore early teen memories :) Thanks!
I make an awesome salsa-like substance (more lime gazpacho/ pico de gallo than true salsa) that has been seeming like a good idea with all the ingredients on sale recently (and people thinking Cinco do Mayo is a real holiday in Mexico). I mainly miss non-mix margaritas, with the salt and the real lime.
Ah, Dean! He's one of the few guys I read het for (though I've found myself with a bizarre, obscure het OTP over in SG-1 - Sam/Daniel )
