That was a quite a journey. Alona's reunion with her husband was a surprise and suddenly shed so much light. It struck me suddenly how if she had been male and dallied with another woman her behavior would be more readily understood. Often we don't allow for simple physical needs in female characters. But, of course, that's ridiculous. I tend to think that on an unconscious level Alona's want of a baby spurred her desire for Jensen even further. Of course, the cynic in me now wonders how Geoffrey will react to a green-eyed baby. But perhaps he'll simply fall in love with the baby in the same way that he fell in love with Alona and not question.
Jared, ... dammit! ... Tristan stole this story, however. I don't know if it was intentional on your part or not but his character is the most compelling to me. That underlying darkness, his youth, his just about naked love of Jensen. Good stuff.
Gotta add my 'me, too' to all the other commenters re your planned sequel. Because I'm guessing it'll be very much Tristan's story (since this was so much Jensen's) and I so want to read that. You created a very intriguing character and I'd love to learn much more.
Thanks for writing such an unusual, well researched and well characterized story!
