Fic
To the End by
esohpe. NC-17. Wincest. 23,000 words. Summary: The world is ending, Sam has turned, and Dean stops running. Dayum!!! The characterizations are so nuanced, so layered and perfect and vivid. There's a wonderful plot, a bittersweet but satisfying ending. Well-written and dark. 5 stars!
Now, for the WIP recs. I must preface these by saying that I HATE works in progress. That said, I somehow got sucked into each of these and they are just flat-out excellent in my never-to-be-humble opinion. There's a range to choose from - gen, slash, and wincest.
Blind Spot by
pdragon76. NC-17. Gen. 7 parts so far, updated every Friday. WIP. Summary: Dean’s on a slow burn after a bloody confrontation with an old nemesis. Sam’s got his hands full picking up the pieces. The Crossroads Deal isn’t the only timer ticking. Warnings for language, whump and sex. I can't really say it better than the summary. This author reminds me of my favorite gen authors:
kroki_refurand
kimonkey7.
In from the Cold by
ladyjanelly. R. Slash. 4 parts so far. WIP. Homeless Jensen. Protective!Jeff. Doctor Jared. How did Jensen become so terribly messed up, and can the gentle care of Jared and Jeff bring him around? Addictive.
The Song of the Treadmill by
tabaqui. Rating R?. 12 parts so far. WIP. I almost didn't read this, despite the fact that I like tabaqui's writing. I mean, what do I want to read about going to the gym for? I'm so glad I took the plunge, though, because it's not about the gym at all! It's frickin awesome. Unique and original - nice action and no porn. Yet. AU where Sam died at 6, Dean has a dog named "Sam" and John pretty much suicided when Dean was 15. Sam is definitely in the picture, though.
