I loved the ep too. One of the best so far, in terms of driving the damn story forward.
I agree that everything Dean tries seems to result in no change, but I also think he realizes that it's angelic interference more than failure of effort on his part that keeps things on this bullshit "destiny" track. I want (very, very much) for Team Free Will to triumph--whether by living, or by dying.
And yes, Castiel h/c was lovely. Kind of gross, with the blood-coughing-up, but lovely.
