Hello! Sorry to hijack a comment thread. I'd PM but LJ's lame PM interface doesn't allow HTML, and I'd just point you to this post, but my fandom posts are all friendslocked, so...
THE BEST FANDOM COMPLIMENT I HAVE EVER EVER RRECEIVED
What with one thing and another, I've had kind of a roller-coaster of a couple of days, and have spent my Saturday so far sleeping in way too late and soothing my nerves with a little perfectionistic editing of a podfic I'm working on.
So when I got this amazing piece of praise, validation, and downright ego-gratification in my inbox a few minutes ago, it's not all that surprising that I burst into tears...tears of, well, squee, really.
I just wanted to let you know what an awesome job you did on your podbang entry "When Heroes Go Down ..."...The recording is smooth and your voice is just perfect. I like the subtle tones you use to distinguish one character from another. You sound so much like Allison Janney from West Wing. So amazing! Beautiful work!
*recovers from stunned feeling a little*
That came from twasadark, whose own podfic-making standards are very high and whose voice and ear are wonderful (Hear for yourself!), and it would be an understatement to say that it made my day.
Much praise is due the source material by buffyaddict13, my gateway drug the first Supernatural fic I ever read, and much also to the moderators of Podbang:2009, who had the brilliant and ballsy idea of asking for long podfic. It gave me the nerve to try a long piece, and as a result, I've found this whole new fandom thing that's giving me untold amounts of creative satisfaction.
My podbang entry, however, got no response at all from my giftee, and I've been feeling a little unsure of my fannish self because of that. So to get this feedback (*squees* I sound like Allison Janney! *squees some more* I have a TALL VOICE!!) is a huge boost, and a great inspiration to do more, and better.
Thank you, twasadark! You've restored my fannish self!
A thread-hijacking to say thank you
