I'm in love!!

So, a little more than a week ago,

justy213 and I went to the South LA Animal Shelter, where she adopted a beautiful little kitty. While we were there, "Bernard" caught my eye. He jumped up and started meowing as soon as we came into the room where he was kept. I went home but couldn't get the little guy out of my mind. Dave said we could get him and still I waffled back and forth. I mean, holy hell! I have twenty some birds, 2 cats, 2 dogs, a turtle and a goldfish. But, of course, in the end I relented. Here's my little guy:

He's so sweet and affectionate. He's about 6 months and just 6 lbs. The vet said he has a little belly already and to watch that I don't feed him too much. Yeah, we'll see how I do with that. :-) Anyhow, his previous owner named him Bernard and I'm going to keep that name. Even though it sounds sort of ridiculous for such a little guy. LOL

Aw, he is precious! There's a tiny, tiny stray that hangs around my dad's business; it's incredibly friendly and I was going to bring it home until I found out someone else had already laid claim to it. Sadness.

But Bernard looks like he's already enjoying your house a great deal. Lucky cat.

Thanks! It is so easy to get attached to little kitties, isn't it? I kept hoping that someone would adopt Bernard, but that wasn't happening. He was waiting for me, I guess. LOL

absolute YAY for new kibbens. I was also relieved to see that I'm not the only one in my flist to have a "zoo" :)! I can't walk into the pound, I'd bring all the kitties home.

LOL - yeah, I have quite the zoo. The hubby is quite confuzzled about all these critters. He doesn't know why I love them so much, but thank heavens he puts up with them. :-)

awwwww awwww awwww. Bernard is absolutely precious. He's really lucky to have found a home with you.

By the way, I absolutely adore that name.

Yup, he's taken over my office, that's for sure. I'm supposed to keep him quarantined from the other cats for 14 days. Yikes!! We'll see if we make it ....

That is a really cute cat. It sounds like you have a lot of animals, good luck with one more, but for those that tug at your heartstrings like that, it's probably a good thing you didn't leave him this way you'll have a new adventure, and hopefully no regrets.

Aww, thanks! Yes, I know what you mean about tugging on my heartstrings. My dog was the same way. We just had this connection - and she's been a great dog (although somewhat of a challenge!). :-)

What a pretty little kitty! It would be a shame to ruin that pretty frame of his and overfeed him, though. :P

Aww, thanks! Yeah, I'll have to be good and feed him and my other cats right. It's hard because they are always SO interested in chowing down! Much like their owner, lol.

Thanks! He loves people so much that he hates to be alone for more than an hour or two. It's a good thing I'm home all the time right now. :-)

i just got flashes of 'The Rescuers' Bernard and Bianca (and i soo could be remembering that wrong.. lol).. yes the name is big for such a little guy but those little guys sure do have big hearts.. lol.. he is really an awwwwwsome kitty ..

awww he's beautiful. I love his name, because if you listen to a female in heat, it seems like she's saying "BERNAAAAAR BERNAAAAAAAAAR" lol so they are going to call for him by name.

I never go to shelters with friends because I know that I'm going to come out with one. I already have 3 cats, so... lol

Hahahaha!! That's true, huh? The females are all calling out for my little guy!
