Podfic/Fic Recs - Supernatural and The Eagle

Supernatural

Oh, the angst. The sweet, sweet angst. With bonus h/c and an epic post-apocalyptic storyline? What could be better? A PODFIC of such a story - that could be better! With great delight, I am pleased to rec ....

Thursday's Child by [livejournal.com profile] strangeandcharm , read by [livejournal.com profile] alchemynerd - 12+ hours of hurty goodness! Yes, you read that right - 12+ hours! The story is Dean/Castiel, an AU in which Dean managed to kill Lucifer when he was in Sam's body. I've actually read the story twice before - so enjoyable!  [livejournal.com profile] alchemynerd 's voice is very pleasant. The recording is clear, as is the reader's diction, and her pacing is careful without being plodding.

The Eagle

I actually hadn't heard of The Eagle before my dear [livejournal.com profile] ariadnes_string  posted a lovely little piece of slashy h/c - The Place You Are - some time ago (highly recommended!), but as soon as I saw that it was - 1. historical, 2. Roman, and 3. filled with fine looking men, I was ALL OVER IT. [livejournal.com profile] jaxie12  has done several excellent podfics in this fandom (here). And also, one of my favorite readers produced this enjoyable piece:

Suffer, Spasm, Strain by [livejournal.com profile] onelittlesleep , read by dodificus. dodificus has a lovely accent and unhurried pacing. She doesn't do near enough podfics, I'm afraid! This particular story is so compelling and unusual - and it clocks in at only around 15 minutes.

You're welcome - hope you enjoy!

Ha ha, when I saw the trailer for 'The Eagle' I thought to myself that this was a movie made for slashers.

[identity profile] twasadark.livejournal.com 2011-07-03 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
LOL - you are SO right! I've really only become a slasher in the last five years, although before that I used to love buddy cop movies and brother movies and so on, but now I can scarcely watch any sort of movie with hot men in it or I'm slashing them. That's probably one of the numerous things I'm going to hell for, lol!

Oh man, I watched The Eagle with my parents and started to get uncomfortable with how many slashy thoughts were going through my mind sitting beside them. I didn't know it was based on a book, though, which I now want to get my hands on because books are almost always 10 times better than the film adaptation, imo.

P.S. Have you seen X-Men: First Class yet? Charles/Erik is like crack to me right now. I love it :P

Thanks for the recs *bookmarks for tomorrow*

LOL!! I actually read the book and I didn't really care for it that much. It was all right, but nothing amazing IMHO.

I haven't seen X-Men: First Class yet, but I just may have to see it this weekend. X-Men is usually all about Wolverine for me, but maybe it's time for me to expand my horizons a little bit.

Yeah, that's how I feel about the movie. It was alright, nothing that really made me go "OMGWHEREHAVEYOUBEENALLMYLIFE?!?!" I think my biggest hang up was Channing Tatum as the lead. Jaime Bell was an alright choice for his character, but after years of watching movies and tv shows with Brits cast as Romans, it's so jarring to hear Tatum's American voice as Marcus. And maybe it's just me, but while he may be easy on the eyes, I have a hard time taking him seriously as an actor *shrugs*

DO IT!! I know I'm SO biased but seriously, the slash in it is practically cannon (especially when the two leads keep promoting their characters and themselves as such ♥). The story will keep you entertained for sure, but every Charles/Erik moment is especially magic. I could be here all night extolling their virtues as a pairing so I'll just move on now and let you experience it for yourself :P

I totally hear you on the Wolverine ♥ He was my favorite mutant besides Mystique as a kid, and he got bonus points for being a Canuck. Come to think of it, the first fanfic I ever wrote was actually movie!verse Logan/Rogue *facepalm* My older men kink goes way back :P

aw, thank you for the shout out! I'm glad I alerted you to the fun that is The Eagle! (I'm a little jealous, too--I've never been podfic'd--keep thinking I'll do one for myself, but have never gotten it together.../whine)

You may want to add your name to this (http://amplificathon.livejournal.com/474741.html) list for authors who are willing to be podficced. It might spur someone on to record your stories. :-)

cool! thank you--I have done just that :)

Great! The [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon just ended for this year - that's when a lot of podficcers are looking for stories to record, especially in obscure fandoms, because it increases their points. But people do post podfics regularly at other times, too, so there's always a possibility that someone might choose to record something then.
