Whaaaa?

I just read BuddyTV's interview with Sera Gamble (p. 2) in which she uses the terms squick and meta.  These are pretty much fandom only terms, right?  Or am I sadly mistaken?  Does this mean that Sera is a REAL LIVE fangirl?????  Am I the last one in the world to know this?  Inquiring minds want to know!

And yes, the interview is somewhat spoilery.

That description of romance, as being the adventure of the heart and mind as opposed to a cheesy bodice-ripper reminds me SO much of Dorothy Dunnett's Lymond Chronicles. Those books spoiled me for all other published fiction. I'm pretty sure they would for you, too. They are incomparable. This review touches on its magnificence:

Six books in total, a hero who is the consummate Renaissance man - brilliant, athletic, artistic - but whose social skills cause everyone to either fall in love with him or try to kill him. Sometimes both.

Anyhoo. The first book is a difficult read. It took me 3 tries before I could do it, but they just keep getting better and better. Sigh. I really should shut up now.
