I can't recall the last time I read such an absorbing, beautifully crafted, lovingly detailed story as Restraint (J2, historical) by Dark Emeralds. I rarely cry at fiction, but this had me a blubbering mess at the end. It's that good.

*wanders off to weep a bit more*

Yes, unfortunately it IS a deathfic. If it's any consolation, though, both partners live long fulfilling lives. But the end is enough to break you, for sure. I sobbed like a baby. Well worth it for the fantastic read though.
